He did is first paperback
cover for Citizen Tom
Paine, Bantam #30. That was
1945, altogether he did only
seven more for Bantam in the
next three years. He is
actually better known for his
dust jacket illustrations than
he is for his paperbacks; the

dust jackets he illustrated for
Zane Grey western hardbacks
are much admired.

His images flow with action
and color, and remind one of
the style of Thomas Hart
Benton. He usually worked

in acrylics.
