His first published work was
as an illustrator for Zane
Grey's Western Magazine in
1952, but later that year he
began to free-lance for
paperback publishers. His
early work can found on Lion
Library and Pocket Books. In
1953 he became a regular at
Dell where he did about 50
illustrations that were used.
He studied art at the Art
Students League of New York
and was a fellow student with
Charles Anders under Frank
Reilly.
